Wilbert LeRoy Welsh, 95, of Darlington Township died Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in Brighton Rehab and Wellness Center in Brighton Twp.
Born October 1, 1921 in Beaver Falls, he was the son of the late Roy Rolla and Sarah Alice (Bush) Welsh and the husband of the late Ann (Hartman) Welsh whom he had been married to for 52 years. He had been a crane operator in the hot finishing department of B&W for 43 years retiring in 1982. He had attended the Valley Baptist Church and served in the U. S. Navy, during WWII and was in the Battle of Normandy Invasion. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Surviving are two daughters and a son, Linda Welsh and a beloved friend Helen Stoner, Beaver Falls, Cheryl and Reverend William Shanor, Rochester, Bruce and Pricilla Welsh, Darlington; four grandchildren: Candi (Jason) Young, Darlington, Doug Welsh and Fiancé Linda Sherrock, Darlington, Shawn (Leah) Shanor, Sharpeville, PA and Becky (Eli) Dennewitz, Chillicothe, OH; six great-grandchildren: Austin and Alivia Young, Braydon and Kaleigh Shanor, Grace and Taran Dennewitz; a sister, Sarah Poe, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by three brothers, Pfc. William Welsh in 1945, James P. Welsh, Roy R. Welsh; and a sister, Ruth Welsh.
Friends will be received on Friday 1:00 PM until time of service at 3:00 PM in the Campbell's Chippewa Funeral Home, 2618 Darlington Road, Beaver Falls, PA with his son-in-law, Reverend William Shanor officiating.
Private interment will be in Duff's Cemetery, Darlington, PA.
Full military honors will be conducted at the funeral home by the Veteran's Honor Guard at 2:45 PM.
