Robert F. (Bob) Hamer, went to be with the Lord on January 14, 2022, at Cranberry Place, Cranberry Township, PA. He was 90.
Bob was born in Homer City, PA on April 2,1931, the son of the late Davis and Ada (Baker) Hamer. He grew up in Turtle Creek and attended Turtle Creek High School. After high school Bob enlisted in the United States Army and served in the U.S. and Germany until he was honorably discharged. He worked for Port Authority of Allegheny County as a Bus Driver for 30 years until his retirement. After his retirement Bob moved from Turtle Creek, PA to Chippewa Township, PA, with his wife Mary, to be closer to family.
Bob met the love of his life, Mary Dax, and the two were married on May 3, 1962. They had two children together. Bob was a wonderful husband, a great family man and a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. One of his greatest joys in life was watching his 3 granddaughters grow up and welcoming his 3 great-grandchildren into the world. Both Bob and Mary never missed their granddaughter’s soccer/basketball games, swim meets and school events. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling and traveling across the United States with his wife. He was an avid sports fan, loved watching M.A.S.H. and old western movies.
Bob leaves behind to mourn him in this life, his loving wife of 59 years, Mary (Dax) Hamer, a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Tom Shontz, three granddaughters, Heather and Jason Winkle, Angela Shontz, Emily Shontz and Nathan McKee, three great-grandchildren Logan, Ryleigh and Zoey. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Donald Timothy Hamer; his sisters, Roberta, Ella, Paulene; his brothers, William, Ronald, Richard; and his parents.
