We are heartbroken to announce that our mother, Patricia L. Martin (Landsbaugh), age 85, of Beaver Falls, has crossed over to her eternal home on Sunday, December 3, 2023. She peacefully passed away at her daughter, Laura’s home, where she was cared for with family at her side.
Patricia was born in Beaver Falls on May 24, 1938 and is the cherished daughter of the late Ray and Dorothy Landsbaugh. She was a graduate of the class of 1956 from Beaver Falls High School, where she was a head majorette and on prom court. She then proceeded to graduate from Geneva College in 1962, where she continued her love of marching, leading the Geneva College Majorettes. She was proud of being voted as Basketball Queen in 1960 as a sophomore in college and making Geneva homecoming court in 1959. Along with many other achievements such as Ms. Morado swimming pool in 1956, runner up for Ms. Beaver Falls in 1958, and her numerous plays and clubs she participated in. She graduated in 1962 and went on to teach for a year in Buena Park, CA, after that she taught at 5th Avenue Elementary School of Beaver Falls. She went back to school at 52 years old and obtained her special education teaching degree from Slippery Rock University. She then was hired at Big Beaver Falls School District where she taught for over 25 years. She was a very respected and admired special education teacher. She was also a home interior displayer which brought her a lot of happiness and fulfillment, while she was a substitute teacher at the Big Beaver Falls School District. She earned the title of queen of her unit, while she was selling home interiors.
Patricia was known for her vibrant smile and positive attitude. She was an amazing mother and grandmother. She had a special love for cardinals, lighthouses, frogs, and nutcrackers. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She loved to give and to see the joy on everyone’s faces. She purchased a lake house at Conneaut Lake, PA, where she loved spending time reading her many novels. She enjoyed many hours of scrapbooking at her lake house. Her favorite times there were 4th of July with her family. The lake house was her happy place, where she spent spring, summer, and autumn for over a decade.
She is survived by her children, James R. (Terri Ruffner and Ricky Ruffner) Martin; Kathy Martin; Laura A. (Brian) Novak; Brian J. (Shawna) Martin; and Jeffrey R. (Brooke) Martin; nine grandchildren which she loved with all her heart, Jimmy Martin; Taylor and Jordyn Holley; Coltin J. and Carson J. Novak; Maleena R. and Connor Martin; Madison (Mike) Culler and Christian Martin. She is also survived by her dear friend, Antonella Allegra.
In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Landsbaugh.
Laura would also like to thank Anova Hospice for their care over the last few months and also to Alexis Bradley and Cindy Zurik for all their love and care over the past couple years.
Family and friends will gather on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Campbell’s Chippewa Funeral Home, Inc., 2618 Darlington Road, Chippewa Twp., PA 15010 (Randy R. Wheeler, supervisor, 724-843-2500). Family and friends will also gather on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 10:00 a.m., which will be held in the funeral home chapel. A family burial will follow.
