John Wilfred “Will” Sylvester, age 92, of Zelienople, PA, formerly of Beaver Falls, PA, died on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. He was born in Beaver Falls, PA on July 5, 1932 and was the son of the late Wilfred Ramsey and Anna Thellman Sylvester. Will was a 1950 graduate of Beaver Falls High School, where he was the captain of the football team. He later received a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Pittsburgh in 1972. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He was employed at J&L Steel and later retired from LTV Steel. After retirement, he was employed as a security guard at Geneva College. He was a Past Master of the Parian #662 Masonic Lodge and a longtime member of the Beaver Falls Municipal Authority.
Will is survived by his third wife, Virginia English Sylvester, who he enjoyed traveling with because he wanted to see what was on the other side of the mountain. He is also survived by his children, John E. (Constance) Sylvester of New Brighton, PA; Heidi L. (John P.) Bober of Ambridge, PA; grandchildren, Lyndsey M. Bober; John S. (Sarah) Bober; Donovan J. Bober; Brooklyn Bober; Declan Bober; Kelsey L. Sylvester; John Jacob Sylvester; sister-in-law, Karen Sylvester; and former first wife, Joann Brown Gregory.
In addition to his parents, Will was preceded in death by his second wife, Ruth Ann Leonberg Sylvester, brother, Ronald D. Sylvester; and an infant brother.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the services at 2:00 p.m. at Campbell’s Chippewa Funeral Home, Inc., 2618 Darlington Road, Beaver Falls, PA 15010 (Randy R. Wheeler, supervisor, 724-843-2500). An inurnment will take place at a later date at the Williamsburg Chapel Mausoleum located in the Beaver Falls Cemetery.
