John H. “Yogi” Meyer, 80, of Big Beaver, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 1, 2023, while surrounded by loved ones.
Born April 16, 1943, in Homestead, Pa, to the late Charles and Elizabeth (Fitzgerald) Meyer. Yogi was a 1960 graduate of Rochester High School and immediately enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany where he served his country proudly. He was later employed as a security guard for many years and was a life-long Pittsburgh Steeler’s fan. Yogi’s sense of humor and ability to brighten anyone’s day will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Carol Burkett Meyer; two sons, John and Joe; two daughters, Kim and Rhonda; six grandchildren; his faithful companion, Layla; brother, Allen (Pam) Meyer; brother-in-law, Chuck Burkett; sisters-in-law, Rachel (Butch) Burkett-McGilvery and Patty (Thomas) Hall; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special cousin, Harry “Spike” Moran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Chuck; sister, Beverly; nephew, Chuck Jr.; and mother-in-law, Ellen (Moran) Burkett.
Friends and family are welcome to join in a celebration of life service on Saturday, June 3, 2023, from 2-4 pm, with the Veteran’s Honor Guard beginning at 3:30 and the Pastor Robert Saul to follow, at A.D. Campbell Funeral Home, 1326 8th Avenue, Beaver Falls, Pa 15010. Everyone is invited to attend a dinner at Grace Lutheran Church, 393 Adams St, Rochester, Pa 15074, immediately following the services.
