John Wesley Bennett

John Wesley Bennett, age 88, of New Sewickley Twp., PA, passed on Thursday, March 27, 2025. He was born in Ambridge, PA, on June 20, 1936, the son of the late Arlie Clyde and Anora Blanche Fetterly Bennett, and husband to the late Karen Sue Martin Bennett.

Beloved father and grandfather, a stranger to no man, he loved his family and friends with an unwavering heart. He was an over-the-road trucker, with a few year stint as a commercial fisherman, or as he preferred to call himself, a paid tourist. Beyond family, friends, and traveling adventures, he cherished: being a helping hand to anyone in need, sharing laughter and one-liners, being a jokester, classic cars, country music…especially Johnny Cash, movies (action were his favorites), learning, teaching, talking, and tinkering.

John is survived by his children, Douglas S. (Cheryl) Bennett of Verona, VA; Faith J. (Ronald) Chrispen of New Sewickley Twp, PA; Angel A-L Berg of Freedom, PA; Amy-Grace (Thomas) McLaughlin of Ohioville, PA; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; bonus son, Edward Martin of Beaver Falls, PA; bonus daughter, Jessica Baxa of Monaca, PA.

In addition to his parents and wife, John is preceded in death by his daughter, Karen “Casey” (Butch) Bobish; sister, Elsie “Sis” Coley; and brothers: Harold, George, Zane, and Calvert Bennett.

Family and friends are invited to gather to honor John’s memory on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 1:30 p.m. at New Life Community Church, 866 PA-68, New Brighton, PA 15066.
